A shedding game for 3 or more players where the seating changes every hand. Whoever goes out first becomes the President, and whoever is stuck holding cards last becomes the Scum. Also called President, Kings and Scum, or Capitalism.
Setup
Deal the whole deck out. Some players may get one more card than others. Cards rank 3 (low) through ace, then 2 (high).
Play
- The first player leads a single card, a pair, three of a kind or four of a kind.
- Going around, each player must play the same number of cards with a higher rank, or pass.
- When everyone passes, the last player to play clears the pile and leads again.
- Try to get rid of all your cards. The order players go out sets their titles.
Titles and seats
| First out | President |
| Second out | Vice President |
| Middle | Citizen |
| Second to last | Vice Scum |
| Last | Scum |
Before the next hand, players move seats in title order, with the President in the best seat. The Scum deals and shuffles.
Card trades
- The Scum gives the President their two best cards, and the President gives back any two cards.
- The Vice Scum gives the Vice President their best card, and gets any one card back.
- The Scum leads the first trick.
Scoring
Each hand, first out gets the most points and last out gets 0. With 5 players that's 4, 3, 2, 1, 0. The highest total after the agreed number of hands wins.
