How to play Uno

Uno is the color-and-number matching card game from Mattel. Most people play single hands, but the official rules also have a points game to 500. This page is a free score tracker for it.

A hand in short

  • Each player gets 7 cards. Match the top card of the discard pile by color, number or symbol, or play a Wild.
  • If you can't play, draw a card. Say "Uno" when you're down to one card.
  • The hand ends when someone plays their last card.

Scoring

The player who went out scores the cards left in everyone else's hands:

Number cardstheir number
Skip, Reverse, Draw Two20
Wild, Wild Draw Four50

Newer decks have other Wild cards. Most groups count them as 50, or 40 if your rule sheet says so.

Winning

The first player to reach 500 wins.

Other way to score

Some groups have every player keep the points left in their own hand. When someone reaches 500, the lowest total wins. Pick this in the game settings.
